Overview

Walk into the ancient era from where it is supposed that the civilization began in India. The Indus Valley Trek allow us to know about the ancient territories secluded within a picturesque landscape, where one side you will see the snow clad peaks and the other side is speckled with cattle farms. Further ahead it enters a rocky and infertile land. The trek showcases most of the ancient monasteries and remote villages. It passes through a beautiful and vast gallery of rock arts depicting the lifestyle and principles of the ancestors inhabiting here. The major spiritual places of interest on this trekking tour in Ladakh are the monasteries like Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Phyang, Lamayuru, Spituk, Alchi, Ridzong, Temisgang and Likir, which also reflect the folk culture.

The entire trekking trail runs through rolling land along the River Indus and Old Caravan route. It crosses through some of the main mountain passes and the full stretch ranges between the altitude of 3000m and 3750m.

After adjusting yourself in the environment of Leh, the Indus Valley Trek heads to Likir followed by Yangthang after crossing Phobe La and Charatse La, wherefrom one can capture the spectacular views of the entire valley. Further, trek climbs to Temisgang passing through Ridzong Monastery in Hemis Shukpachan. The trail then winds down to Lamayuru and Alchi and hereby to Leh. Thus, the Indus Valley Trek in Ladakh is one of the main places to visit that even attract the Buddhist pilgrims from South-Asian countries as well as from Korea, Japan and China.
